Who are the members?

 

Membership in the League of Women Voters, the most respected and effective grassroots organization in the country, is open to all people aged 16 and older.

Our members make a visible difference by serving as community leaders using their experience to create positive, lasting change in our communities.

Join the League of Women Voters and be part of an organization that is:

 

• ​Empowering millions of voters to exercise their right to vote by holding voter registration drives, sponsoring candidate forums and debates, and informing the public about their rights on Election Day.

• Protecting the right to vote and ensuring that every vote is counted by fighting for free, fair and accessible voting systems.

• Advocating for positive change at the local, state and national level on issues such as civic education, government accountability, and money in politics.

• Fostering civil dialogue about important community issues, such as government spending, fair housing, immigration, and civil liberties.

• When you join the League of Women Voters of Lansing Area, you are also joining the LWV United States and LWV Michigan.

 

Membership Dues

 

Individual members: $75 per year is the recommended amount, or pay what you can ($20 minimum).

• You can add a second member ($150 total for both recommended, $40 for both minimum), but they each will need to provide a unique email address.

• Students may join for the $20 minimum

 

Making Payments

 

• The preferred payment option is a direct bank transfer (ACH transfer), which minimizes fees. You’ll need your financial institution's routing number and your account number.

• You also have the option to pay by credit or debit card.

• You will receive an online confirmation and an email receipt for your payment.

• Your membership dues payment will show up as three transactions on your account — one each to LWVLA, LWVMI and LWVUS. You’ll be a member of all three!

• Keep things simple by automatically renewing each year! Just select auto- renewal when you are paying your dues.

  • Please make your dues payable to LWVUS

  • Print and complete this membership form.

  • Mail your check and membership form to: LWVLA P.O. Box 971, East Lansing, MI 48823​

Making Donations

You have the option to make a non-deductible direct donation to LWVLA when paying your dues, or you can donate directly to us on the donation page on our website.

• You may make a deductible donation to the League of Women Voters Lansing Area Education Fund  by check only. Pay to the order of the  "League of Women Voters Education Fund" or “LWVEF” which is a 501(c)(3) organization. Mail your check to:​

Renewing Your Membership

 

You will receive an email reminder to renew one year after your last renewal, with a link to renew on the LWV Member Portal.

 

If you have signed up for auto-renew, you will get a reminder that your membership is automatically renewing.

 

*There is a 60-day grace period after a person's expiration when they are still considered an active member of the League. After 60 days, they are considered inactive. In that case, they must use the Join process to become active members again.

 

Accessing the LWV Member Portal

 

To update your contact information or view your past payments, go to the LWV Member Portal.

 

To log in to the portal:

• Enter the email address associated with your membership.

• You will be sent an email with a verification code to enter the code into the form. (You do not need a password.)
